System S...L...O...W when burning CD...
Since I got my new Asus A7V266-E RAID motherboard, system gets extremely slow when burning CDs (when I type something it takes 15-20 seconds to appear, switching between programs or scrolling takes as long).
My mobo has 4 IDE channels (2 RAID connectors set to normal IDE mode):
Primary master: 40GB ATA100 hard drive (c
Secondary master: 30GB Tape drive (t
Third master: CDRW
Fourth master: DVD ROM
What is causing this?
Thanks

Because the burning procedure uses a large amount of the system memory. This result is common.

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record about this, but, depending on the OS you're using, I'd recommend loading the freeware app, "CacheMan." It has presets for multimedia, normal usage, power, multi-apps, CD burning, gaming users under different OS's that manage your swap files and caches to optimize your system performance for the specific chore.
It works like a charm!
