windrivers site speed
about 3 weeks ago i moved house and had new phone line fitted , i thought the speed on windrivers forums was v slow , having had time to surf the web ,and other sites , i have come to the conclusion that it is not my line but windrivers.
I am of course on 56k modem , all i seem to get is at bottom left X No. to open , and it takes ages.
is anybody else on 56k modem power having the same probs?
maybe if there wer,nt as many banner adds it might speed up.
and before i get wise cracks "get yourself DSL" let me say this is not an option.

You are not the only one Freddy. I am on a 1Mb Cable link and the forums are very slow compared to other sites. I think it is about ready to be moved onto UBB threads (as these load almost instantly on other sites, just like vBulletin forums)

thank god it,s not only me.
as i said i thought it was my line but its not.
i often get sidetracked (when u put links) to other forum sites and have no probs.
I soppuse (and i,m as guilty here) its all the animated gifs (avatars) and the pasting of pictures in replies.
but i think a lot is down to the banner adds etc
just try it darren on a 56 , you can almost make a brew.

I have them all blocked via the firewalls ad/popup blocker so they don;t come into it for me

Have you tried the UBB 6.3.0 Beta? It flys along!!!
But yes, UBBthreads or vBulletin (No debates intended) are the way to go...

I use to browse the forums when most of you are sleeping due to the time zone. I have no particular problems when posting on the forums.
The only thing is the main page. Windrivers.com always takes a long time to load for me.

Allright, I have UBB Threads all set to go, I just have to import, probably tomorrow and we'll give it a whirl. Be prepared for a new URL on the home page.

Are you upgrading just this board or both boards (this and the company forums)?

Same here. It seems that when the bar with the Site Search gets loaded, it just sits there waiting for something.
Looking at my hostwatch program I see that it is attempting to connect to http://www.milosierdzieboze.com/sbtpolls/show.php?site=windrivers.com
After a while, the rest of the page loads, and hostwatch doesn't see the milosierdzieboze connection anymore.
What is happening?
Here comes the revolution; time for the retribution.
