Resolved [RESOLVED] Email addresses - to show or not?

About the poll on the main page regarding email addresses in the forums. You have the option in your user profile if you want to show your email address or not every time you post.

Why not leave the decision to each member, instead of having everyone's address either shown or hidden?

I vote for making email addresses obligatory.

If you're clean, you're clean. You don't worry about sharing your email address!

Doesn't bother me if mine's public..I put it right in my sig...I even (horror of horrors) put my real name out there for all to see...I must be mentally disturbed

I do think people should provide an e-mail address to register, but they should have the option of hiding it from the general public if they wish....spambots are real problems, you know. Of course, the moderators still have the user's e-mail if necessary.

I don't mind that mine is public. It is my Yahoo account and all the spam goes in another box and I can block addresses from the children that try pulling their immature cr*p!

    Thumbs down

It's not a question of having anything to hide or not...I just don't want every tom, dick, and harry e-mailing me because they feel they have some cause to promote or sell. I have made my e-mail address available to the moderators...if they have a problem with something I'm doing or saying, they can contact me.
I take my privacy very seriously!!!
Having said that, I also appreciate the value of a public forum such as this...it has helped me out several times as well as the good, fuzzy feelings I get from helping out somebody else.
Keep the option of making the e-mail address
    available to the Moderators only!
    Just my two cents worth...
Also, keep up the Good Work!

it's no big deal but i think moderators should be the only ones who have access to the info.

I'm with jimmr13...the address I use here is for business only. I don't have a problem with requiring a valid email address and making it available to everyone here to use this site.

For those of you who are interested, showing your email address is optional. Just look at your profile.

Or, you could get a cool windrivers.net email address at http://mail.windrivers.net

I think that setting in your profile was overridden by the administrator before. Scott, have you changed the settings to allow individual users to choose whether they want their email displayed or not?
