AMD 1.4 head
had fan/heatsink off to clean chip and turned on computer for 5 sec.
do you think I fried my chip?
can not check because my new board has a bad AGP slot. another can of worms.

put a pci vid card in it then, or put the cpu into another machine. You'll get beeps if there's no video card in there, but it will only beep if the cpu is working. no cpu, no beeps. So if you DO hear beeps, it's more than likely that the chip is okay (ish)
If no beeps are heard, then your buggered m8!

Can you smell anything burning? From my understanding, it only takes a few seconds for the little AMDites to go sizzle. Good suggestion above. Just fire it up (no pun intended and with the HSF on of course ) and see if you get some beeps.

Thanks, had to locate a pci card but chip is fried.
