Comfy and AMD
hey..
a friend of mine built an AMD computer to his sister.i believe it's the 1700+ .
running win xp pro.
the comfy keyboard was plugged in successfully and is functioning.
when he inserted the game "first step" and tried to run it ...the XP Cashed!!....
the game needs dos but won't work in a non windows operating system.
ON HIS 733 PENTIUM 3 PC THE GAME WORKED..!!...
any suggestions please ??

Try right clicking the Executable file and selecting Windows 95 from the compatiability dropdown box. This tends to work with a lot of DOS based apps under XP.

tried that already.....didn't work...
you think the amd cpu has anything to do with it ?
because it worked with an intel cpu...

yes...the pentium 3 is running windows xp as well..
is there an amd user who uses comfy ?

Sounds like the game runs from a CD? I have had an instance where the first thing a program does is measure the speed of the CD-ROM drive, and on a fast AMD the test routine crashes out with a divide-by-zero error. It may be possible to check if it's just the speed of the system by dropping it back & seeing if you reach a point where the game will run.

I have a couple of Old RPGs that give a divide by 0 error in the same manner. If this turns out to be the problem I would be most inerested in its solution.

is it a ntfs partition or fat?
if it is ntfs you may run into problems
