Angry A7V how long is a normal boot time

I have just put together an A7V system W 1000 M T bird. without any other cards installed and the ata promise driver from the Asus CD disk.I even tried diabling the ata detection in bios.I also can't get the ATA 100 to work.I tried putting it on the proper cable by itself as master but no luck I didn't time the boot but seems to me it takes about 2 mins. Is this normal for this board or is it a bios conflict. How long of a boot time can I expect. I hate long boot times!

I normally boot fairly quickly, and thats with my hard drives attached to the ATA100 port.
What hard drive and ram are you using?

Maxtor 30 Gig ATA 100 . I just got the ATA 100 to work by enabling other boot device I over looked that. Boot time is better but still looong. Ram is 256 mb pc 133 Nec . Are you running Win Me.

    Exclamation

2 minutes is too long for that configuration!

You need to check what's going on.
BIOS settings, IRQ conflicts, faulty OS installation etc.

    Good luck.

    actually I am...
AlienDyne is right, that is waaaayyy too long a boot time with that hardware and OS. bout the only good thing about windows ME is the reduced boot time...
What version of the Promise drivers are you using, they've released a newer version fairly recently..

I just noticed it is win me promise driver it must have slipped in on that auto update I didn't know it puts drives auto in there. I will check for the new ones . Other than boot time it is running flawless and fast . But maybe I could get more out of it . the IRQ's are
    IRQ 0 System timer OK
IRQ 1 Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft Natural Keyboard OK
IRQ 2 Programmable interrupt controller OK
IRQ 3 Communications Port (COM2) OK
IRQ 4 Communications Port (COM1) OK
IRQ 5 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK
IRQ 5 Creative SB Live! series OK
IRQ 6 Standard Floppy Disk Controller OK
IRQ 7 ECP Printer Port (LPT1) OK
IRQ 8 System CMOS/real time clock OK
IRQ 9 SCI IRQ used by ACPI bus OK
IRQ 9 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK
IRQ 9 VIA Tech PCI to USB Universal Host Controller OK
IRQ 9 VIA Tech PCI to USB Universal Host Controller OK
IRQ 9 D-Link DFE-530TX PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter (rev.A) OK
IRQ 10 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK
IRQ 10 WinME Promise Ultra100 (tm) IDE Controller (PDC20265) OK
IRQ 11 ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering OK
IRQ 11 ASUS AGP-V6800 DDR SGRAM v3.75 OK
IRQ 12 PS/2 Compatible Mouse Port OK
IRQ 13 Numeric data processor OK
IRQ 14 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller OK
IRQ 14 Primary IDE controller (dual fifo) OK
IRQ 15 VIA Bus Master PCI IDE Controller OK
IRQ 15 Secondary IDE controller (dual fifo) OK
Now I am going to go check system bios IRQ
    and the new driver.
Printer port and serial are the only ones that showed they are the same and rest say auto detect so I would imagine since I have it set on OS yes it win me selects.
I just timed boot time 2 times it is aound 1 min 3 secs I got it down a little with the ATA working correctly I guess this is more in the norm ?
O-kay the new driver at Asus web page is newer august other one is from May . And boot time is around 45 seconds great only problem is the computer wont shut down . Ahhh.

In the bios, (but I forget where exactly), disable the SYBIOS scsi bios ... helped me a heap.
