    Post Pentium III Chip Fake?

I came across a PIII chip that looks like a standard Pentium chip and mounts in a standard ZIF socket. Out of the hundreds of PIII pcs Ive worked on Ive never seen this. Has anybody ever heard of this or does anybody know where I could get more info on it. Thanks

Is it possible you are talking about the new Flip Chip?

I read an article that Intel is thinking about going back the ZIF socket that they originally designed.
The chip you have probably is an OEM and has to go into a 370 board (ZIF socket to Slot 1).
If you look at the pins, it should have 2 cut off corners.
An obstacle is something you see when you take your eyes off your goal.

What is the rated speed of the chip? The Intel PIII (500+) WITH cache on die has been reverted to socket rather than Slot 1. I with they would make up their minds!
