Post CPU mistake ?? is this legit?

    Hi
I have a friend that has bought a CPU thru Ebay and well please read the description of this CPU and tell if this is possible? It doesnt make sense to me because the multipler is still x6 is the CPU is at 100fsb like its supp to be then it is a 600 but if the fsb is 133 then it is 800. I told him that this seems rather suspious and to beware of it being overclocked and the heat issue that will come from it. Any input would be appreciated. The ebay item is 1247223122 or copy and paste the site below.
    Thanks for the help

The label that they are displaying shows it as a P III 600.

Could be mislabeled. that does happen not often but it does...

    Be cautious....
Would you like fries with that?

The CPU in question is legit. Intel released a P3 800 in flipchip format utilising the 133 FSB that more modern chipsets support. So there is no cause for alarm. Also a fasanating fact is that the die used in this chip is exactley the same as the die in the 600 model so if you are clever you can over clock you p3 600 to a p3 800.

Maybe the CPUID utility would help you. You can download it from www.intel.com

CPUID won't tell you squat! It will see the PIII 600E and a PIII 800EB as the same processor. =o) Been there/done that. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">
Don't even ask why they call me stressball....
