[RESOLVED] Sony crx100e misreading of cd-r's

I have a Sony CRX-100E Recorder. The problem i am having is that when using easy cd creator 4 (updated to 4.03)or Direct cd 3.0 and i insert a CD-R, the drive insists that it is a CD-RW disk.

I am using WIN98 SE. Any ideas at all.
Sony Online Support is mediocre.

This may seem irrelevant, but see if your IDE Controllers under Device Manager are set to DMA mode. I've found my HP 9100i CD Writer to be very picky about that setting. If PIO mode is enable instead, it can sometimes cause sporatic results...
