    Angry frozen mouse

    new usb ms/wheel mouse freezes up if anything
    is running in the background. Anyone else having trouble? i'm running Win98/intel p3/450/Pheonix BIOS/usb enabled.

    Since you said "new" I am assuming that you just had a regular mouse before, and that it worked OK. The wheel mouse requires a little more resources than a regular mouse. The most frequent cause of mouse freezing is a busy system. There are some operations that grab almost all the resources available, such as coppying a lot of files to a Zip drive. If Explorer, for example is running in the background copying files, or some graphics app is processing a large graphic, and you are trying to maybe play a game while you wait, your system may not have enough resources left to run the mouse, causing it to move very slowly or freeze. More memory might help, or possibly the CPU is just doing all it can due to TSRs, etc. More info might make answering a little easier. What's running in background, etc.

    I had a problem last winter with a couple of frozen mice in the dog food bag in my garage. Temp got a little low for the poor little buggers.
