What is maximum length for USB cable
Does anyone know the specification for the maximum usable length of a USB cable? Does one use USB hubs to extend a cable outward? We want to move the webcam from this computer room to another room in the house (if possible)
Thanks for any info.

The maximum length of a USB cable between the USB port on a computer and a USB device is 5m. There are work-arounds for this problem, check out the USB website URL below. In the Developers FAQ there is a detailed description of how to get a USB signal over a much longer distance. An alternative is to put a USB camera on a network hub equiped with a USB port, then get the signal over the longer distance via a small network setup.
Hope this helps.
