USB Patch Driver
For the first time ever, I've got at PC with a VIA chipset:
Motherboard: Soltek 65DV2
North bridge: VIA VT82C693A APOLLO PRO-PLUS
South bridge: VIA686B
At www.viatech.com I found the USB Filter Driver ver. 1.08.
The files in the patch are dated March 8, 2000, and my question is, are this patch still needed and what does it really do?
Best regards
Jensen

Let me put it this way If everything is functioning than don't use the patch... If you often have problems with your USB not functioning properly than you might want to use it.... BUT I think microsoft has a patch out for USB functionality out so you might want to try that first. I would advoid putting the VIA drivers on except for a LAST RESORT. If you are running windows millenium dry deleting the USB drivers in Device Manager and let them reinstall themselves. Hope this helps.

I've never been able to get a VIA USB controller to resemble anything close to proper working order without the filter driver....

Ditto. The VIA drivers are there for a reason and work fine once installed.
