Post USB TO PARALLEL PRINTER CABLE

A friend was having compatibility problems with his printer and scanner so I
got him a USB to Parallel (CA930) cable to connect his printer, a Canon
Laser, to one of the USB ports on his PC. I followed the instructions and it
plugged and played and installed the driver from the floppy disk.

I then tried to print and it worked fine.

However, after re-booting, it would not print and came up with an error
    message.

On the floppy which came with the cable there is a file called 'Cleanup'. If
I run this it clears out the drivers and reboots the PC. On restarting
Windows 98 SE, the driver re-installs and the printer works again.

It does not seem the load the driver on restart unless you run the Cleanup
    file before restarting.

Any idea why this may be.

The other problem is that I re-connected the normal printer cable to the
PC/Printer but this will not work at all now whereas it did before.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem. The only TEMP. fix I have found is to unplug hte cable and plug it back in. I have reinstalled the USB drivers and the Printer drivers, it still does the same thing. I really don't think its a problem with the printer itesef.. I would say its an operating system error or a problem with the cable itself. I have not been able to find any other drivers for the cable either. Let me know if you do. Good Luck!
