[RESOLVED] cd driver for win98 install
I am trying to install windows98 on a pc with no operating system. i'm using the windows bootdisk but it fails to load the cd-rom driver.
In congfig.sys several aspi managers are loaded then the correct cd driver for dos for my machine. However, after loading the driver I get the following message:
"Interface board or DVD/CD-ROM drive not ready. Insure that drive power is on and drive cables are correctly attached"
Any thoughts...

Has the CD-ROM drive worked on this computer in the past? If so, you may want to double-check to make sure all the cables are firmly in their sockets. Ain't gonna read a CD-ROM drive if there ain't no connection...
If that doesn't help, find out (1) what the CD-ROM drive is connected to, and let us know what it is, and then (2) let us know the make and model of the CD-ROM drive you have.
Post a reply...
