IEEE 1394 & Digital Camcorders
Installed the card which is recognized. can't get camera to work. Totally locks desktop of Win ME. If I turn camera off it unlocks desktop. 6th card 2nd computer.
Currently 850 MHZ AMD, GIGABYTE MTHBD, 256 ram, 40 gig hd. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Maybe its soemthing with ME itself,try installing any pathes from your mb cd.The other computers had ME also?What about support from the manufacturer,a driver update or a cable problem could also be the case.

I agree with Qdoc
Ive had trouble running firewire gear off win98 ver 1 - I think the most stable os's for firewire is win98 ver2 or maybe win2k I had to get confimation of this from both the Firewire card supplier and the firewire product supplier
But overall the best setup for firewire / DV video cameras is Apple - any supporting Imac to G4 they have built in firewire and support in their os

Windows ME is a faulty software. If you can try to move up to Win2000 then you should have better luck. My only problem with 2000 is that there is a lack of drivers for what Microsoft claims is the solution to all the prior problems. The firewire does work, however...

Plz Install the Video Capture Update from M$.
It is a update that you need to install after installing M$ DX 8.0 or 8.0a.
