How do I install a USB driver under Win98SE?
This might seem a silly question but I don't know how to install a USB driver on my Win98SE system. It is for a USB cable connected to a Janome MemoryCraft 10000 sewing machine. Don't laugh. Windows detected the new hardware and I loaded the Win98SE CD and also gave the path to my cabs C:\Windows\Options\Cabs under Device manager, Other Devices - USB device, Properties, Re-install Driver, Next, Search ... (Recommended), but it says it cannot locate the driver.
What now?

Be sure of your path to the driver.
uhcd.sys
usbhub.sys
usbd.sys
vmm32.vxd.
these are the file used from the Windows cd for my USB driver.
located in c:/ system.
Don't know if this will help but if not try donloading a generic USB driver.
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

Thanks,
Where do I locate a generic USB driver. WinDrivers doesn't seem to have one.
My uhcd.sys
usbhub.sys
usbd.sys
are all in c:\windows\system32\drivers sub-directory.

I tried searching for one earlier for you but had no luck, Sorry.
Keep the topic going and someone will help soon enough.
I guess the next question for this topic is where can you find a generic USB driver online.
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

I found the drivers I needed. They are specific for the Janome machine and are at: www.janome.com/downloads/usb98.exe
It took a bit of searching at Janome but I got them at last.
Even better - the PC to Sewing machine file transfer worked!
