win98-blue screen- USB root hub will not load. Help?
when windows is loading, an "installing new hardware/ USB device" appears, then an"installing USB Root Hub software" comes up. then the screen goes BLUE! ugh! help?
Is this a windows problem or is it in my Bios? any help would be appreciated.

What does the BSOD error message say?

the message says: Fatal exception 06 at address...
the bootlog.txt last entry:
starting usb root hub (usb\root_hub\root&
usb&0000)

You may have an IRQ conflict between windows and your BIOS. If you can, disable USB in the BIOS and see if windows will load. If it does. Use sysinfo to see if you actually have a free IRQ for USB. USB doesn't like to share them.

Ok i had this very same problem I can help you dearly. If you have a 1st main board the bastards force you to install there whole driver kit for the usb ports to work. Then you have to go into your bios and enable USB under the perphials section.
