My boss recently took the A+ exam, he also took a refresher class at the local college.
He got the Transcender program off of the net, http://www.transcender.com. I guess the program covered a lot of stuff that the class did not.
Hope this helps, I am going to try for my A+ soon also.

if you have been fixing computers for more than 6 months, you will pass the exam without studying. I took it shortly after starting in the field and aced it with out ever opening a book. All you have to do is read the question and pick the most correct answer. Some questions will have 2 or more answers, but one of them will be "more" right than the other. Also, don't tell it to mark your answer after you have completed the question, that way, later on when you find the same question, this time asking for a definition of an answer you gave to a previous question, you can go back to make sure both answers match up.

I had been working on PC's for quite awhile, but went ahead and took a A+ class for confidence. Tell you the truth I really needed it. Yeah, ask me to build a blazing gaming PC and I'll do it in a heartbeat, but if you had asked me about IRQ's or DOS commands and I would have drawn a blank. I really learned alot from the class. The test? It asked bizarre questions. Do you know the address to a Network card? Off the top of my head, ummm I still don't know. I'd recommend brushing up heavily on the DOS commands and your IRQ's and addresses. Compared to the MCSE and the like, the test is easy, to your average PC enthusiast it may not be a breeze.
