CCNA without class
IŽd like to know how many of you CCNA owners did a ICND class or something like that and how many just got a good book and read at home.

My recommendation is do self-study and hammer it out in 1 month or less. This will mean spending about 4 to 5 hrs. a day, but it will start to flow in your mind. Taking a college class is like putting your certification on lay-away, it will take many months. And after all that class-time, you will wonder if you learned anything (or remember anything from the last semester). I know, because I am also taking a Cisco class at the local college branch. If it weren't for the fact that I get re-imbursed from the GI Bill, I wouldn't bother with it. I have my CCNA thx to persistent study of Sybex CCNA material.

To be honest I taught myself Cisco (thanks in part to the crappy company I used to work for, "here's a router go hook it up". Since earning my CCNA & CCDA and switching jobs I've gone to Cisco classes.
Anyways if you have alot of experience with routers and switches buy the CCNA book from Cisco Press, read it and you will do fine.

Just my additional opinions, but I didn't feel comfortable around routers even while attending the college class. But after self-study, I feel more confident. As that farmer said, "YOU CAN DO IT!!"
