I have one, it works quite well with cheap CD-R media. I haven't been able to use CDRW media yet, but I think it is because I have the CHEAPEST CDRW media available. (dont know if it is verified to work at any speed over 1x) Anyway, the drive has 2mb of cache on it, so buffer underruns are easily prevented. It burns an entire CD in about 17 mins. I like it.

They're about $170 US, and I sell a ton of them. You need Adaptec's UPDATE101.EXE and version 3.5C of their software, and they run without a hitch for data, but audio needs to be cached to the hard drive to copy faster than single speed (unless I just haven't figured it out right). Great hardware for the price.

    Cool

Well I have installed them in many systems, and before long I too wondered how they work. Customers of my store say that they work perfectly. CD-R is used by one gentleman as a backup for files. He loves it.
