pls help

hello gents,
here's my problem:
on a 440bx tyan motherboard tiger 100, i've sub the previous video card with a 32ddr radeon ve, substituted the cd rom with a pioneer 16x dvd player (lastest) as slave togheter with the cdrw as master on a ide channel. The board have dual ide .

results: the unit on boot would come up with :
a: drive error
pls escape for startup

and then boot normally but the a drive and the other 2 would not show up. conflict on device both ide channels and floppy drive.
Tne ops does not allow me to change the irq's. on primary ide channel would show:

on secondary ide channel shows:

and on floppy drive would show:

I've tried everything I know and now on boot e shows :

dmc failure or something similar.

my ops is w2k sp1.

pls help-

Ok..first thing that comes to mind is why do you have the dvd as a slave? Just curios But I would try clearing the cmos by removing a jumper or removing the battery on the motherboard. Also, what IDE channel do you have the cdroms in?

Im not sure if I can help but .....

Im running a Pioneer 105s dvdrom drive aswell with a abit vh6II / VIA 686b IDE controllers

With my situation WinMe hates my drive in the control panel it shows a nasty confict on the IDE controller and doesnt show up(tried lastest 4n1 no go)- If I unplug my this drive and use a standard 40x this works

But when I use the DVDrom in win2k on the same pc it works absolutely fine - Ive used sp 1 & 2

Try booting up with none of the cdroms see what happens - then add the cdrom that was working, see what happens. Maybe then try the DVDrom by itself then see what happens. dont forget to check jumpers for both cdroms when trying them together
