Easy way to lock PC

I keep having to press Ctrl Alt Del and then press Lock Computer to lock my computer which I do often...

Is there a way to make a one click icon or something, like in the quick launch bar, that will lock my PC?

This won't do exactly what you need...but password protect your screen saver and make a shortcut to that.

Here is an easy fix untill you find that miracle Windows short cut. The way this works is, it gives you an icon on your system tray and when you place your mouse cursor over it, it will kick start your screen saver right there and then, if you set it that way. Of course by doing this, your screen saver should be password protected.

I have also seen programs with "hot spots", that when you place the mouse ussually by the corners of the screen, it will lock up your computer, instead of using Crtl+Alt+Del.

Here's the solution. I saw it on here recently.

Create a new shortcut to this on your desktop:
%windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

Then just drag it to your quick launch bar.

Presto! One Click Lock Workstation.

By preesing the new link it says:

Missing entry: LockWorkStation

Whats the problem there? False DLL?

the reason you use crtl/alt/delete is to get rid of any applications running in the back ground, this free's up the system. Passwording the screen saver is okay but not fool proof. Once a lock is turned on, the only way to break it is to use the right password, use the admin user name and password, or reboot and log back on. I tried the shortcut and it works great, thanks for the great research Q
