    Resolved [RESOLVED] IRQ Sharing

Can anyone out there please help me!

I have a very unusual irq problem, in the ESCD table @ boot all device are listed on unique IRQs, but when in win2k under resources in computer manager it tells me everythings on 11 (SCSI, Graphics, USB, Modem. I have tried every posible combination of settings in the PNP/PCI setup and varying different driver versions, i have also tried the system with just the SCSI & VGA but there still both on 11
    what am i doing wrong

    System spec:
    Abit KT7A-Raid
    AMD Tbird 1Ghz
    256MB
    Adaptec 29160 (2.57.2 bios)
    Nvidia Geforce2 32DDR
    SB 256 Live
    Diamond internal Supra 56

    Thanks

This is normal, it mainly uses IRQ19 though

Win2K over rides Bios PCI settings, trying to change or assign IRQ for PCI devices in Bios is futile, along as Win2K is setup-using ACPI

    Goto Device Manager

    Double Click COMPUTER

Double Click Advanced Configuration & Power Interface Computer

    Click the Driver Tab

    Click Change or Update driver

Select from a list od Drivers

    Show all drivers

    Select Standard PC

    Click next

    Reboot

Windows will redetect your hardware and assign the IRQ's as set by the BIOS

Only drawback is that you will need to power off manually after this, but what is the press of a button?

Also make sure that you have IRQ5 set to Legacy/ISA in the BIOS as the SB Live's Legacy support can interfere with the Highpoint controller if you don't.

    Unhappy

I tried what u sugested and rebooted "bang" cannot find NTOSKRNL right at the start of the boot, couldn't go in in safe or last knwn good so i had to do a repair of the 2k CD. every things back up know "well almost" i now have a standard PC under device mngr but all irq's are holding tight on 11 still, and as if that wasn't bad enough i can't get into outlook xpress it comes up and says "Outlook express could not be started because MSOE.DLL could not be loaded. now i am really confused?

What version of the VIA Drivers are you using?
I had the NTOSKRNL problem when using the 4.26 or higher drivers.
