"Target Principal Name Incorrect".....Active Directory Is Now Toast
I am having a rather frustrating problem with Active Directory. I have two DCs in my mcse.com domain named DELL1 and FARRAR. I “experimented” with manual replication using the “replmon.exe” tool and now have all kinds of problems. I have read the MS KB article entitled “ Error Message: Target Principal Name Is Incorrect” but have not been able to solve the problem. None of my clients can log on. I cannot demote either DC as access is denied while running the DCPROMO tool. I had hoped to simply remove both DCs and reinstall as my home lab only has 10-15 user accounts. I cannot access anything concerning Active Directory. Using the NETDOM QUERY FSMO command shows FARRAR as Operations Master. I did find this file that was generated to My Documents:
"DateTime","8/31/2001 12:04:48 AM"
"PartnerType",">> Direct Replication Partner Data <<"
"DirectPartnerUSN","Property Update USN: 10512"
"DirectPartnerFailure","Changes have not been successfully replicated from FARRAR for 11 attempt(s)."
"DirectPartnerFailure","The reason is: Access is denied."
"DirectPartnerFailure","The last replication attempt was: 8/31/2001 0:04:45 AM (local)"
Here are a few files from Event Viewer:

What Have I done wrong? What can I do to resolve the problem?
Thank You,
Jeff

ok, to start look in technet here Q259277, Q260575.
correct me if i'm wrong but don't you need schema admin or enterprise admin rights to manually replicate between domains? I'm a little shaky on it so i'll read up on it in a bit.
