Post Windows 2000 can't see the Internet

OK people - stupid question for ya.
My system dual boots between 98 and Win2k.
I have a DSL connection, and everything works fine in Windows 98. In Windows 2000 however, all my drivers are loaded correctly, and my NIC is configured correctly (I connect through DHCP, not static IP). My Internet settings are set to "Automatically Detect Internet settings". I can ping sites, but cannot connect through a web browser. It is not set to work offline either. And same with email, it won't connect to server.
I know it's going to be something simple, what am I overlooking here?

    Thanks in advance,

    Skywalker93

Try unchecking the box for automatically detect settings.
Depending on the provider, mine has no boxes checked in the lan settings as per their setup info.
