problem with adding seconde hard drive
Today I had a wonderful experience.
I added a second IDE hard drive to a Windows 2000 Server system. Trying to be quick I went into "My Computer" and reformatted it NTFS from there. W2K asked for a reboot so I did.
Upon reboot, after entering password, a message pops up saying there is no cache file or its too small. clicl OK and continue, hoping to resize it. after a few seconds I get another message saying a service or driver(s) didn't load please check Event Viewer. Right after that it starts saving the settings and goes back to the login prompt. Safe Mode same situation.
Was I being to lazy by not using disk manager? Or is there a problem here?

Is your boot partition bigger than 8GB.
Have you unplag the HD , and see what happens.

a good idea is to open Disk Administrator and check for any errors...
well I'm not sure what happened but here's a fix:
1. change the Swap File Size to "0" (my puter-> properties->advanced -? perf. options -> Change
init size: 0
max size : 0
Press okay all the way (do not reboot !)
2. open regedit
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management
change ClearPageFileAtShutdown to "1"
3. close regedit
4. reboot
5. change the Swap File Size to two times your RAM (my puter-> properties->advanced -? perf. options -> Change
for 256MB RAM
init size: 512
max size : 512
Press okay all the way - and Reboot
6. open regedit
go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager\Memory Management
change ClearPageFileAtShutdown to "0"
7. close regedit and reboot
good luck
