Win2K strange behavior-the whole story!

My apologies for my earlier "abbreviated" post-here's the scoop-
Dual booting Win2K and Win98-each has its own hard drive. 96MB Ram K6-2500 processor Savage3D 8MB AGP video and now, my problem..
After booting into 2K, uptime until event varies, at some point my mouse cursor jumps to the top of the screen and the display starts to fall apart block by block. Not sure of the exact terminology here, tearing?, whatever... cursor will no longer function really. I'm fairly new to 2K and could sure use a bit of help, thanks!!!

W2K Pro needs at the very least 128MB of RAM to function properly. See if you can "borrow" a RAM stick from someone for an hour or two to get you rolling at or above 128MB of memory and see if the problem goes away.

Sounds like a graphics driver issue.

I don't think it's the RAM. If Win2k gets too little ram it just swaps a lot. I have run it on 64MB quite a few times before (It aint pretty, but it works).

Update your video card drivers and then if it still happens, try a different video card.

I agree with ShadowKing. Video drivers do seem to be the culprit. Have you tried the usual troubleshooting measures? What has been done so far?

Excellent thoughts, one and all-thanks. I realize 96 Meg of RAM is pretty weak, I'm looking to add more ASAP. Re: video card and or drivers for same being the culprit, I'm thinking you're right, sadly drivers for the Savage3D under Win2K are few, far between and not very satisfactory in general...anyone know where I might lay hands on a decent driver for this card? I'd consider swapping for another card but I'm dual booting and I love its performance under Win98SE using the excellent tweaked drivers written by Fachman.
Keep those ideas comin-I really appreciate it!!! Ed

www.reactorcritical.com has drivers for pretty much every video card, and they are usually teh manfucturer's most recent, or most recent taht some1 else made.

I'm running 64mb ram on an integrated PC Chips mobo right now. Whodda thunk! It's actually running pretty good, no technical problems. Mouse jumps occassionally while launching programs, no biggie. Other than that, fine. It's my first Win2k install, went pretty smooth. I'll pop a 128mb chip in tomorrow.
Back to the problem, I think the guys are on the right track with the video driver. My NIC card driver doesn't seem to want to take in this OS.

Have you scanned you system for a virus recently?? Your screen falling apart block by block sounds like a piece of dodgy code !!!
