sounds like when you downlaoded the sp2 you didnt get it all. Did you downlaod it using microsoft's update? Or did you downlaod the sp2 stadalone? Standalone then from where microsoft's site or another site?

Do you leak any fluids, do you have any bumps on your rear, do you have any unpleasant odors?
If you answered yes to any of these then you are not qualified to own a new AMD ATHLON XP.
If someone ask you if you are running the all-new fastest AMD ATHLON XP, just turn around and reply "WHY YES, AND ITS CERTIFIED"

Can you get into safemode?? Hope so. Either that or run the cd again and do a repair. I would hold off until the next rev of SP2 comes out. I personally refuse to use it because of all the problems I've had with it. Best of Luck to you!

It's an upgrade, Jim, but not as we know it. A lot of people are talking about having problems with hitherto stable systems once they apply SP2, and I'm here to tell you folks, I'm one of 'em. My 2000 system ran faultlessly for the best part of a year straight out of the box, after SP1, great. But I got a RAID board and there was a problem with 2k and ATA100 drives which SP2 was supposed to fix- and it did. It's just that after that, the system became very flakey. I'd have to admit that I also applied some Registry fixes, but I applied them to my other machine and that's fine. Then again, the other machine also has SP2, so go figure.

The only difference I noticed after installing SP2, was that the Intel Storage driver 6.10 wasn't giving so much error messages in the event log anymore. It would be nice to get a proper list of all the fixes and then check if it did just that...

When in doubt, whip it out

No problems here after installing SP2, in fact the machine is actually more stable than what it was before (& it was stable then too). The Safe Mode option sounds the correct approach if you can get in.

I'm running SP2 and see no real stability change. I had problems with my office2k updates making word, outlook, etc. crash after opening. I've had problems with the march compatability update, but that is my CD-ROM won't work after applying it. I also have a problem with the Agent newsreader causing BSOD's when running other programs at the same time. I've learned what caused each and have corrected the problem or know what to do so it doesn't occur. No stability problems with anything else. As far as the BSOD's, Agent isn't written for NT or 2K so there is that problem. I'm looking for a good newsreader that can combine messages for the different parts and do it easily.
God is all knowing, I am just human.
