random can't access hard drive, when a 12x12x32 aopen burner is installed
I get random "can't access hard drive", when a 12x10x32 aopen burner is installed.
I run an abit bh6 m.b. with a maxtor 20gig
h.d.d partitioned into three drives.
my os is m.e. the drives are on seperate ide channels, both set as master.
i can burn fine, but the system is very slow to access the hard drive, when copying data from a cd in the aopen cdrw, to the h.d.d.
I randomly(from all partitions) get,"cant access h.dd, data may be lost" errors.
i have enabled dma, and then had to disable
cause it got worse.
what gets me, is that with my 4x2x24 sony
it has absolutly no prob.????
any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

What burning software are you using, and have you checked your system resources?

Oops, forgot to ask about changing speed during burns?

well as i stated, it will burn fine, even at 12 speed. but when i use the burner as a normal cd rom, and try to transfer data to the hard drive, or install a progie from the burner, i get these problems?
I suspect it may have somthing to do with the ide driver? or perhaps the udma settings?
i dunno, a couple of other people with the
same burner dont have this problem?? I would
sure appreciate some guidence her, as i have been out of the loop for almost a year now.
(changed careers)
oh, i was using adaptec ver4.o2, i think, and got the updates(as far as i could tell they were the right ones for burner i have)
it works fine burning, it's just transfering data from it, to the h.d.d. that it seems to screw up.
thanks again, i aprecciate it.

Do you have the latest firmware updates from Aopen? Also, there is a jumper on the back of the unit for umda. Is that being used? Since it seems to be a read from rather than a write to, does it make any difference copying music to the hdd, or does it copy data to the hdd okay?
