Hard drive problems
Ok, here is a weird one.
I just installed Win2K last night. My system previously had Win98SE installed, so I decided to get a new hard drive to install 2K on, with no intention of dual booting or anything.
The install went smoothly, however when I look in the file explorer I notice that the old drive had C and D assigned, and the new drive had G assigned, with my 2 CD-ROM drives taking E and F.
Now the new drive is installed as the master drive on IDE 1 with the old drive installed as the slave.
Any ideas on how to change or fix this?
One other point, the old drive, which had 2 partitions, was formatted with FAT32, while the new drive was formatted with NTFS.
I'll probably just disconnect the old drive tonight and reinstall, but I am worried that once I reconnect the old drive it will once again mess up the drive letter assignments.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Go into computer management and go into disk management and assign drive letters manually.
To each his/her own.

CJK,
Thanks for the information. Unfortunately Win2K won't let you change the drive letter assigned to the boot device. However, that was ok as I wanted to repartition that drive anyway. I unplugged the slave drive and reinstalled on a clean drive and used what you recommended to set the drive letters as I wanted them.
Thanks again.
Bill
