Red face adding a 2000 pro machine to domain

I am trying to add a win 2k pro machine to a domain. Everytime i try to add it it says path not found. I can browse the network, I can manage the machine from the domain controller using active dirctory. i have gone to the knowledge base and tried some solutions provided. I can add a win98 machine or millenuim machine no problem. Oh yeah any win 2000 pro will not join the domain any ideas
    Thank jason

I believe that for a win2000 machine to join a win2000 domain, there needs to be a DNS service running on one of the 2000 domain controllers. The win2000 machine then needs to be setup to use that 2000 server as it's main dns to join the domain.

I had this problem with joining windows 2000 servers together with active directory as domain controllers. Once I got DNS setup, it worked perfectly.
