Clean install or repair?
The one way you can do it is too unistall all apps, and place cd in the drive, the cd give you an option of upgrade or clean in stall choose clean and follow the on screen messages.

When there's a problem, I always try the Repair option. If the problem persists, I backup, format and reinstall W2K.
My 2 cents..

I usually go for a clean install.
back up all files that you need then format the hard drive and boot from the win2000 cd.
It's always a good idea to partion your harddrives so that you can keep all saved files and format only the partion with windows sytem files on it.
Partions can be created and destroyed with fdisk in dos or with propriatory software.
try partion magic for a universal tool.. or ibm tools, max blaster for maxtor drives and seatools for seagate drives.
