    Post Office SP-1 upgrade issues

Ok, I've been trying to upgrade my XP to service pack 1 for a few weeks now, and for the life of me I can't get it to work. I keep getting about half way through when I get this error message: "Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT14C.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor."

The file(s) in question are files the patch extracts and uses during the patch installation. The only thing is the file changes between several files each time I try the update. Microsoft KB was of no help. Has anyone else run into this problem? I'm having it on two seprate computers from two seprate install disks.

I am having the same issue. It sounds like your copy was installed off of an administrative image on a server, like mine. You have to apply the update the image, which I haven't quite figured out how to do yet.

No, my program was applied off the cd rom directly. But, I'd be willing to try anything. If you figure out how to do this, let me know, I'd be interested to see if it works.

It tried it from a CD and direct from MS and still got a similar error with a temp file fault.
