    Post Toshiba FL inverter warm

    Hi All.

This is an odd one. I have been working on a Toshiba 2510 with a LCD that goes dim after a time. The FL inverter checked out so I used a LCD that had some dead pixels, black bar running down one side, and the displayed work fine for days. The replacement LCD arrived today and once I put it in place the new screen went dim. I went back to the test LCD with dead pixel also dim, checked the contrast control on the side of the screen as well . I used a FL inverter from a 2520 as the part number is the same as the 2510 and the new LCD worked for a time then went dim again. I noticed that the plastic covering for the FL inverter was warm once the LCD dimmed, note there is no way to plug the inverter in improperly as the cables ends are molded. Anyone come across this problem or have any ideas as to a solution? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">
No need to be concerned. The voices in my head assure me I am completely sane.

I have had similar problems, but it has never been the FL inverter. Yes it will get warm, it should with all that voltage going throug it, but I have yet to see a bad one (other than in the traning course). Usually the lcd harness on the back of the lcd was loose or not properly secured with tape. have you tried a different FL tube? It may also be causing the dimming.

your best bet when in doubt is to phone the TASC(TCT) hotline, that way you won't have to pay any restocking fees if the part they tell you to order does not fix the problem. The number is on both your TCT card and in the Field service pocket guide.
