    Post Compaq LTE Socket Services

    Hi,
A 'friend' of mine, (some friend), has asked me to rebuild his LTE 5300 laptop. It has a CD, but it is a PCMCIA CD rom. I can't seem to find the socket services to enable the PC card slots. Could anyone point me in the right direction please.

    Many thanks.

Just for grins, you might try following Compaq's link below:

If you still haven't found what you're looking for, let us know.

    Good Luck!

    Hi DonJ,
Hehehe, been there a MILLION times today, keep thinking I'm missing somethin.
It's just the DOS drivers I need, can't find'em anywhere. Their support suks big time.

    Wink

    Hey DonJ,
I finally found them last night, on some obscure forum site, deep in the anals, (annals??), of the Compaq site.
    Thanks and good luck.

    Question

Could you post the link for the rest of us?

    Thanks.

    Red face

    Oops. Yeah, sorry, wasn't thinking.

Basically, you will need to DOS format/s a 1.44 FDD, and copy the contents of this zip file to it. Then copy it to the HDD. A bit of editing AUTOEXEC.BAT/CONFIG.SYS is required. Personally, all I had to do after that was load my PCMCIA CD drivers.

Good luck all. Mail me if anyone has probs.
