sony pcg-505fx mouse trouble
Hi. A Sony laptop PCG-505FX has a Versapad touchpad. The user was also using an external Logitech PS/2 mouse connected via the external ports.
The user went out of town and someone else used his computer while he was away.
The User comes back and his mouse does not work, though the pad does.
In Device Manager the mouse driver is a ps/2 mouse. I switch it to Versapad, as per Sony website instructions, and comparing it to a similar laptop. STill does not work.
I installed the newest Logitech mouseware software, to no avail.
I moved the mouse to another computer and it works fine. I attached the external port bar to another comp and it worked fine. I attached the other guys ports and mouse to this comp, and the mouse does not work.
I must be missing a setting.
Does anybody have any idea?
Thanks
Rafi

First, try to boot in a safe mode and take a look at the Device Manager. If you have more than one mouse - delete all of them and reboot.
Second, check System.ini In 'Boot' section there is a line 'mouse' - compare it to a different laptop, make sure it's same.

Check the BIOS - look for a setting to specify the mouse input method - Pad / PS-2 / Both.
Death is lighter than a feather - duty heavier than a mountian.
