    Post Win98 on a Toshiba 4030CDT

At least 20 times I've tried to upgrade the Win95 version to 98 2nd edition, but without success. Somehow the system halts at the opening of maps or starting the explorer. The video driver is the Win98-version, audio, modem etc. all seems to be okay, but the "freeze-problem" stays..

go downlaosd the drivers from toshiba's web site and try them. Sometimes MS's built in drivers just suck a big brown log.

I agree, get the right driver ! Also, why upgrade, I would do a wipe and a full install. Less problems.

You may try a BIOS upgrade for that laptop - as well as doing a fresh install.

I have also seen where on install removing addt'l memory installed allows for a smoother install (no freezing)
