    Post amd 1.3 asus a7v266mobo

i just bought a new AMD 1.3ghz cpu an ASUS a7v266 mobo and a new midtower 300w power supply.
    i have 512mb pc 133 sdram
    64mb ddr radeon vivo agp
    20gb w/d hd
    sb live xgamer
    50x cd rom, 12x8x32 burner
i am having a problem, there is power to everything but i do not get any video output to my monitor, i tried another video card and it did the same thing. after about 30-60 sec the comp will shutdown. i have no clue why this is happening, i have checked jumpers, cables, everything and i cant figure out what is causing this. i really dont want to take my comp into a shop,
    thanks for you help.

Did you build it yourself? If not, was it working when you got it?

Is your Power Supply AMD approved for 1.3Ghz CPU ?

if not you must replace it for proper operation..

if the PSU is okay I would suggest trying removing all the cards and hardware leaving only the CPU, RAM and Video. Reset the CMOS and see if it will work..

add one card and peripheral at a time (start with the floppy..)

also I would check for a CPU fan not connected to the right CPU_fan Power outlet on the Mobo - it can cause problems..

    Keep us posted..

those "click" sound can be a stuck key onthe keyboard or something ..

try disconnectin your keyboard and mouse from the computer...

Make sure you have the DSW switches set properly. Take a look at this page -
    http://www.asus.com/products/motherb...66/jumper.html

If the DSW switches aren't set properly for the type memory you're using it could cause it not to want to post, same with if you haven't got the switches set properly for the front side bus/CPU clock multiplier.
let us know what you find, good luck!

Only thing I would do was make sure I install DDR ram. Why buy the mobo and proc and bog it down w/ PC133 ram? Open that bad boy up and let her run, man. DDR's cheap and AMD bus speed takes advantage of it. That'll be my next system.
