Definitely not a Compaq. No offense to Compaq users but everyone that I know who has a Compaq laptop has been cursing since they got it.
Recommend that new Dell Inspiron. It's got a GeForce 2 Go in it!

1. Dell - gaming and general business, speed and options
2. Sony - thin and light
3. Compaq Armada + Toshiba Tecra - business line of laptops - good quality.

I like the Sony's, especially the one with the removable privacy filter. And they come in that funky purple/grey color instead of the typical boring black or grey. The Super Slim models look especially cool, with their magnesium alloy cases.
I wound up buying an HP, because it had the best combination of price and features. And it came in a nifty navy blue and metalic grey.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 530 CDT that has been working fine for the last 3 years. Still works great...
