[RESOLVED] unable to update IE
trying to update IE and this is the message I keep getting... any suggestions?
A previous installation has pending work requiring a reboot. You need to restart you computer to complete that installation before running Internet explorer setup. Setup will now close.

Silly question but I've seen this before....you did reboot your system before trying again right?

I have now also tried to uninstall(revert to earlier version) IE, thinking that maybe somebody installed a newer version, but that didn't help either...

I've had the same situation trying to upgrade IE5.5 to IE6. Download failed continuously and I wanted to make sure 5.5 fiels were the only ones in use under Win2000.
After a number of reboots, I managed to re-install 5.5 using source files I had on my hard drive and by modifying a key in the registry which pertained to a pending installation.
I'm not at my personal PC right now, but I'll try to find this key again so I can post it.
