When I select system restore, it says there are no restore points available, if I try and create a restore point, it won't let me and says to reboot system, when I do and try again I get same message.

then try DISABLING the system restore and reboot and then try Enabling it and see what happens?

I assume you're even messing with that because there's a problem with your system...you can't save a restore point for a system that isn't working...

My system is working fine, I just wanted to feel if it was'nt I could recover it, the first 2 posts gave very usfull info, only I still can't get restore point.
So I will use other types of backup.
