    I got reminded to ask this question from a post. What shelliconcache is for? I deleted this file when it was about 1.5 M and it never came back. No problems so far.

    I think it retains the settings
    for the icons on your desktop.
    Like so when it refreshes it doesnt
    have to rebuild them all the time.
    I bet since you deleted that file
    you might notice a longer time for
    your icons to refresh when you boot into
    windows? Maybe !

    It should regenerate after rebooting.
