    Resolved [RESOLVED] Can't re-install TCP/IP

After deleting TCP/IP it won't now re-install. It asks for the location of telnet.exe but when I give it any one of a number of telnet.exes it comes back with a message: there was a problem installing telnet.exe. I am running NT workstation. Has anyone seen this?

I'm not sure if that's 100% related to your problem - but I found that this usually fixes many problems with network reinstall

This often happens if you mess up when installing TCP/IP. The protocol bindings all get screwed up. The best thing to do is to remove the network card drivers, protocols, services, the lot. Reboot then install SP6a.
Reinstall the network components from the WinNT CD and remember after taking files from the CD you need to run SP6a again.

Make sure you can get into the local admin account bvefore you get rid of networking.

Also try to restore winsock2 - there is a dir and batch file for this.

This is what has happend to me "Windows is Stupid"

It put down in the registry that it had the files installed so it thinks that are there.
it goes to read them and cant find them.

Then it wines that your are not giving it the file when you are

Just hand put the file in the dir where it belongs and windows usualy shuts up and works.

Done this over 50 times on various boxes.
