Re: multiple ie settings
Is it possible to have multiple internet explorer on the desktop. Each one, for example, link to Lan setting and the other at dial up?

I am not aware of any way to do this, however Netscape 4.xx will. (which is kindof unfortunate really) We use Netscape on the company laptops for this precise reason, everyone else uses IE.
You could set up two profiles to do this in Control Panel/Passwords. Then have a different config in each. Or maybe there's a way to do it with hardware profiles...?

In the old days (prior to IE 4.xx), we used to install IE a second time in another directory (c:\IE). This allowed us to run two setups. I have not tried to regressively install IE 3 on top of 4 or 5. I don't think it will allow you. There might be a reg edit that disables this block.
Netscape will also allow you to run multiple connections.
