Win98 + Network connection + dial-up problem
I have a workstation running w98 se
it logs onto a NT server via a lan which connects to another network via a fixed link
it also has an external modem used for internet access
the problem is that if the user has 'always dial my default internet connection' turned on in dial-up networking when ever he attempts to access the remote network the internet dialup appears.
If the 'always dial' is set to 'never dial' then the user has to manually dial the internet before using internet explorer
This did not happen when he had a win95 pc
what am i missing - is it anything to do with HOSTS file or what????
any help gratefully received
Regards
Jason

Changing the dial option to "Dial whenever a network connection is not present" should provide the results your looking for.
