Angry How to restrict installs ?

I have a server running nt4 and workstations running 2k. How can i restrict users from installing anything on the workstations but then be able to let them use the floppy and cd rom to run stuff from. I think its something to do with policies but with 2k it is lookn like i have to wait for active dir on a win2k server any suggestions?

Well, I'm not sure if NT has the same user categories as 2K, but since your workstations are all 2K, perhaps it will work.

In 2K, there are three basic levels of user account: administrator, power user, and user (I suppose guest would also be a type, but it is just about the same as user).

The user account will permit access while not allowing any installs.

Otherwise, I believe NT does have group policies, and you should be able to accomplish this via a domain group policy.
