Question USB DSL modem and wireless network

Hey, I'm preparing to set up a wireless network to share dsl with a laptop. My problem is that I have a USB DSL modem (Alcatel Speedstream). All of the wireless access points I have found require the dsl modem to plug into the wireless access point via ethernet. Would it work to put a nic in the computer that the dsl is on and then connect the nic to a wireless access point to share the dsl? If so would I need to use a crossover cable? Do I need a router?

Someone please help. I have a great new Dell laptop on the way and need advice.

    Thanks

usb dsl modems are kinda a pain. You will need to run some sort of server or proxy and run the dsl into a dsktop then insert it to the lan and have all machines go through the proxy set up on the one box connecting to the dsl. X
