Wake on Lan (WOL)
does anyone use this feature that comes with some network cards?? I just got one and enabled it in the bios, but am kinnda lost on how to get it working now, the card didn't come with any info on the WOL feature.
Never let the facts get in the way of a carefully thought out bad idea!

Basically it's used on a LAN to remotely start up a computer. For example, if you wanted to update all the virus signatures on my network, or roll out a major software upgrade, you could remotely instruct all the workstations to start (if they aren't already running) then you can ensure every workstation gets the update. You would usually do this kind of stuff at night, so this solves the problem of PC's not being turned on. I don't know how you would implement this, but it sounds cool.

yah, i know what it does although that link explains things a bit more, the thing i was wondering is how to set it up (like i hooked it up and enabled it) but i want to konw how to get it working
