anyone else have any (negative) experiences with realtek ethernet cards?
running a linksys hub network on my WInMe system network. Works great sofar.
Just seems the ethernet card I have in my computer is only working half the time or so.
Keep getting messages about it not working properly. then just fine. then not etc. repeat ad infinitum.
card is a realtek RTL 8019 LAN adapter.

realtec is one of the better cheapie brands. they work fine usually, but whenever I have a problem with one, I never hesitate to just replace it.
There's nothing more pointless than troubleshooting a $15 NIC. Just replace the damn thing.

They are a decent low cost solution.
mmmm
15 for a cheap reliable nic
70 for an overpriced 3com
Now 3com cards are nice, in a small office with a budget the lower cost solution is a better one. An important thing to remember is try to keep all the nics the same brand one way or the other

I use realtek a lot and if they work the first time through then they usually go for quite a while. But any signs of trouble or hickup I replace them without a second thought.
To each his/her own.
