Resolved [RESOLVED] How to logon into NT Server 4.0 domain from Windows 2000 Professional?

    Hello Friends !

I have a Windows NT 4.0 Server. I have Windows 98 clients to logon to NT Server 4.0 domain.

I made a new Windows 2000 Professional client. I created its acount on NT Server successfully during its installation.

Now when i boot to Windows 2000
professional, it shows existing NT domain in its list during logon screen but you can not logon with any existing NT domain user account as you logon into NT domain with Windows 98.

I just want to logon into NT Server 4.0 domain with Windows 2000 professional.

Please if you any solution then tell me.

    Thanks

are you getting any error messages during the logon and if so what are they?

also make sure the account for the w2k box has been created in the pdc.

okay here's what you need to do:

    on the NT4 Server:

    1. Run srvmgr.exe (server manager) and create a COMPUTER Account for the Win2k Station (if one exists for it - delete is andd create a new one) The computer account needs to be the Name of the computer...

    One The Win2k Station:
(I'm assuming that the computer is already connected to the network and works with it, the only problem is login to the domain..)

    Joining the Domain:
    ---------------------------
    1. Right Click "My Computer" -> Properties

    2. Switch to the Network Identification Tab

    3. Press Properties

    4. in the "member of" section (bottom) change the radio button to "domain" and type the name of your NT4 domain.

    5. Press okay and reboot your computer.

making sure User and passwords are correct:
    -------------------------------------------
    6. Login with Local Administrator.

    7. Right Click "My computer" -> Manage

    8. go to Local Users and Groups -> groups

    9. double click "administrators"

    10. Make sure you have "NTDOMAIN\Administrators" as members ...

    11. if not press "add" button, change the "look in" to your Domain, and add your domain administrator group.

    12. press okay untill you're out...

    Managing the profile:
    -----------------------
    13. log off and log in as the domain administrator.

    14. ater your first login (profile created) log off.

15 log in as "Local" administrator

    16. Right click "my computer" -> properties

    17. switch to user profiles tab

    18. select your localcomputer\administrtor profile and press copy to..

    19. Select "browse" and change the path to "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.Domainname" (if you're win2k is installed in c:\), press okay

    20. in the "permitted to use" press "change" and select "localcomputername\Administrators"

    21. press okay untill you're out..

    22. log off and log in as the domain admin..

    Good luck
